H.O.W. feature: Mothers En Vogue – Part 1

When I was expecting Clayton 2 years ago, I told myself that I won’t want to look ‘preggy’ in maternity wear. So one day an ad in a Singapore mother’s magazine caught my eye. I was surprised that maternity and nursing wear could look so attractive. Out of curiosity, I checked out the online store and found Mothers En Vogue. In summary, I have not bought any other maternity and nursing wear from anywhere else except MEV. I then became friends with the owner, Sharon and here is Part 1 of the birth of MEV.

Sharon Ho-Norton, Director and Founder of MEV
Sharon lived in Canada and Hong Kong for over 8 years before heading back to Singapore in 2000 where she took on a role as Marketing and Communications Manager in Asia for TMP Worldwide.
During this time, she also met her Australian partner with whom she subsequently embarked on a journey through parenthood. Before returning to Singapore, Sharon was a conference consultant on many international and regional congresses held in Hong Kong, Macau and China. She has worked with government divisions including the Isle of Man Treasury, the Hong Kong SAR Tourism Association and the Macau Government Tourism Office.
Because she runs international business and trade conferences in such a variety of industries, she meets people from many fields from Business Technology to Hospitality, Fashion and of course the media. I worked hard and also played hard. Her close friends are within the Advertising and Fashion industries and interestingly for her, she had endless invitations to exclusive launch parties, raves, and weekends were also spent hanging out at various watering holes.
While having carved a professional career in marketing and communications, Sharon has always pursued her artistic leanings and interests. Besides being adept at portrait painting, she has also dabbled in graphic and fashion designing throughout her schooling years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and a Fine Arts certificate from Simon Fraser University, Canada.
Sharon opted out of the corporate life to devote time to her new found family. Her experience with motherhood and her love for her 2 children, Brandon and Nikki, have been, and continue to be, the inspiration for her business Mothers En Vogue.
In Sharon’s opinion, Mothers En Vogue is her ideal vocation – spurred by her passion and belief in breastfeeding, and draws on her skills in design and business marketing. While it is a challenge balancing herself between running and growing her business, and looking after the development of her children, she thrives on such challenges.
