Illegal Lidocaine
Here’s Part 2 of Lillie’s story as she shares some valuable advice with all of us who work or long to work from home…
A few years ago, I developed a myoclonic seizure disorder – probably because of damage from my stroke. In spite of what seems like a million tests and dozens of treatments, nothing has controlled the problem. My left leg and arm flail out and I cry “Oh,” and the symptoms can become much more severe than that. It’s not comfortable for me, but it’s probably worse for unsuspecting bystanders who don’t know what’s going on or how to respond. So I don’t get out much, though my family, my friends, and my church family take it in stride. Because the situation is so unpredictable, I couldn’t work anywhere else but home. I’m incredibly blessed to be able to do what I love in the best place to work in the world.
For other home office women who want the same kind of blessings, here is my advice:
* Follow your dream. You will face obstacles, detours, and delays, but you will also experience great joy and tremendous blessings.
* Specialize in customer service. No matter what business you’re in, the better you take care of your customers, the more successful you will be, the more friends you will make, the more fun you will have, and the more business you will get.
* Enjoy the flexibility of working from home – mothers can adapt to children’s schedules as I work my schedule around my medical situation. However, maintain a balance – it’s easy to get so busy with your home business that you neglect yourself, your family, or your home, and it’s just as easy to get so involved with household chores and family activities that you neglect your business.
* Do what you love and love what you do, and give thanks every day for the wonderful privilege of being a home office woman!
