Retail therapy on the weekends with Clayton

Even though I work from home and have the flexibility of time, I look forward to weekends where I can spend more time with Clayton and relax my mind over some retail therapy. Last weekend was another great one spent with Clayton alone as DH was back in his hometown to settle some family errands.
We had a nice Japanese lunch together before heading for the Kinokuniya, the Japanese bookstore that stocks heaps of nice children books for little ones. Clayton enjoyed browsing through his machine books, counting and alphabet series. For me, spending time reading with him is valuable and meaningful.
I must admit that I’m a high user of credit card when it comes to shopping and a day out like this, for the sheer convenience. Moreover, it is not that safe to carry too much cash in this country when you are all alone with a child. Sometimes, I get lured into making high purchases at 0% interest charges, a fairly popular trend in the local shopping community. Weekends seem to be the best time for banks to promote credit cards and their balance transfer services. Shoppers are still keen to compare credit cards on the basis of who offer the best privileges and rewards for high spending customers.
Temptations that come from retail therapy can be great. I have to constantly warn myself against overspending and buying things I don’t necessary need. What is nice about working from home is that I spend most of the time ‘at home’, other than the periods where I meet clients, suppliers or run some errands. That can at least avoid the constant exposure to retail spending and accumulating credit in my cards which may bring dissatisfaction to my business partner, my husband, that is.
