Advice on online store needed
Do you believe in the value of your time? Do you spend time doing things that you are not good at? And as a result, left with little time for your own tasks, where your expertise truly lies.
Even though I’m a graphic designer by profession, I am ‘helpless’ when it comes to web design or techie stuff. I’m in a discussion with a friend on setting up an online store selling artistic things. While he prefers to thrive as a strategic marketer for the project, I prefer to focus on marketing the store online.
I am looking at a good website design company who can offer e-commerce solutions as well as web marketing services. I come across Website Pros who provides a host of web services for small business owners or entrepreneurs. The website has a FREE white paper on “5 Essentials to a Great Website” for those who like to understand a little more about building a good website.
And if you still prefer to dabble on building your own website but have no basic knowledge, Website Pros has a software that allows you to do that.
Anyone has any advice on setting up an online store?

Well, simply don’t loose any time with set-up questions. Christmas is approaching fast.
* Do your marketing and keyword research, decide what you want to sell. If you already have something in mind, check if it can be profitable.
* Get a good domain name, get hosting that offers an out of the box shopping solution, which should include ready to use template. Don’t waste time with technical or design stuff. Keep it very, very simple for the user.
* Put an Email Newsletter Sign up Form up and offer something of value to get people on your email list.
* Start marketing the site and drive traffic to it.
* Improve as you go. It’s kind of rare on shopping sites with a product catalog, but put real testimonials from happy customers on the site as soon as possible.
I’d say those are the basic steps. –John
