Pay nothing for backing up your data

Posted on May 28, 2007 by dc
I wrote about Online Backup previously and was wondering if anyone took up the FREE backup service even though it was just limited to 2 Gb space. With a hearty vision of saving the world, "one computer at a time", iDrive is a leader in providing backup service for your files, documents, emails, videos, MP3s, personal information and any data in your drive. And if you think the features are good and would like an upgrade, just go for the IDrive-E Pro version. For home users, the free basic version may be suffice but if you have big files to back up or if you own a small business, it is worth checking out the Professional version. Some features have been added including a free 1 Gb file and folder sharing service with multi users via web using iDrive-S. Small businesses can also create mutiple accounts which provides convenience and flexibility.

Normally, I go my mom’s place in Newark to spend the weekend with her. Though I really enjoy myself there, I had to constantly remind myself to do my backup onto my external hard disk as soon as I return home.

I was not convinced with what you wrote until out of curiosity, I actually visited the site of these guys who call their service “IDrive-E”. And I should admit that it’s really good. To know more, I opted for their free Online Backup trail version and found out some great features.

I could store up to 2 GB of data and I was free to try out all the features of IDrive-E. I could do online remote backup of my important files even if I was in my mom’s place. The scheduling procedures were simple. After my scheduled backup was over, I always get an e-mail intimating me of the successful online backup that had taken place.

Using the Windows Explorer like interface, files could be just dragged and dropped from/to the virtual drive mapped to my system. I could view, search and restore backed up files through the web interface itself. I really don’t have to spend time opening the application. http://www.idrive.com

Nowadays, I do not worry anymore about the safety of my important files and really enjoy my holidays.
