I was looking for a part-time job while looking after my 2 young kids, 17mths old and 2mths old then. It proved to be fruitless as very few jobs would allow their employee to work from home. However, while searching, I came across many websites (mostly from US), mothers working from home, working on something, and getting income. Since I love the internet and could not bear letting others take care of my children, I thought it will be great to run an online thingy myself and be with the kids at the same time... I guess that's how it all started... My web shoppe!(which started in 2005) What are the perks and challenges of from home? - start work anytime and anywhere in the house - Time management, children's needs, household chores Describe your biz The biz started out with children's stuff - story-telling dolls; bags, toys and so on...(basically the items goes along with my kids' age)... as I continue the biz... I wanted to create my personal line of products... Something which I can call my own... Since my web shoppe is being named my passion (gladys' Pash, Pash, short for passion), and with my kids growing bigger, I begin to use more of my 'available' time (mostly in the nights) to work on my dream...to work on my passion... handmade stuff(filled with loads of tlc)... And personalising them(which my kids love absolutely)... I have started to introduce my very own line of product this year... All handmade by myself... And I will be working from here onwards... ^_^ What is your advice for anyone who likes to work from home? ... ... I am still working on the struggles myself! It's not like those 9-5 kinda job... It's total commitment of your entire time... Coz I am managing my kids, my household and managing my biz(that includes building and growing the biz) full-time (without any helper aka maid). For me... Just like anywhere else, in work or in life; at work place or working from home... the need to practise the core values in our life, that is living for the greater good, ownership, teamwork and dream big, Work is my life... And my life is my work... It's a total devotion... Focus... Prioritize... self-discipline, passion, determination... What do you get most out of this business? Total joy and satisfaction, it's really a hands-on thingy for me... Just like an artist who painted a picture, and is proud of it. He devoted himself completely to finish his piece of work. He poured out his heart, mind and soul in his work. Everything and every part of it... Something I love to do and get to do it and I am proud of the fact that I am in my kids' life and my kids' are in mine.
