beware of new spams

Posted on July 18, 2007 by dc

Oh… how I detest spams. I have the Do Follow plug in installed and the only thing that concerns me is the comment moderation I have to do. As I continue to explore on the topic on how to control spam, I just read that spammers are getting more sophisticated and savvy with their methods. With image spams being common these days, now, PDF spam is the next big thing. It looks like with the new masks that spams are appearing, we just need to have smarter software to guard our websites and blogs against these new spamming methods. The truth is many of us may not be suspicious of receiving PDFs as they are normally used as common attachments in business and personal emails.

Thanks for this info. I’ve been getting a lot of messages with PDF attachments that I delete without opening. I thought they might contain viruses, so I’m glad to know what they are.

Yea Lillie, it’s the same for me. Sometimes I tend to accept and open PDF files readily but I wouldn’t do it again unless it’s from a reliable source or contact.
