Save the children
Sometimes we are so busy with building our business, making money and providing a good and comfortable life for ourselves and our family that we can forget to care for the needy around us. So, it warms my heart whenever I know of business people playing their part in donating part of their business profits and proceeds to charitable organizations. One touching story is the one told by philanthropist and businessman, Navtej Kohli, who started the Tej Kohli foundation after a company’s trip to a farm in Costa Rica province.
One of the charities that is special to me is Save the children whose focus is centered on helping and creating hope in the lives of needy children around the world. The recent highlight at the American Idol had brought more attention to this charity with a significant increase of donations from the US citizens. As a result of the Idol Gives Back, the two night fundraising event held in April, more than $75 million were raised to assist the children and young people suffering from poverty in the United States and Africa. Though it may be seen as a PR campaign for Fox TV and American Idol, it is great to involve TV viewers in the quest of caring for the needy.
