dreaming of milan today

I don’t care what my hubby says but I’m going to Milan someday! A city of creativity and a shopper’s paradise, Milan is also the place for those who adore culture, tradition and gourmet food. I don’t write a shopping blog for nothing… this is a great form of therapy for a home office woman like me :) Let’s take a peek at what Milan has to offer:

1) A visit to Milan is not complete without hitting the fashion quadrangle which falls within these areas: Duomo Square (piazza Duomo), Cavour Square (Piazza Cavour) and San Babila Square (Piazza San Babila). Be ready to break the banks here with designer boutiques like Giorgio Armani, Prada, and Gucci.

But not every one of us are into big designer brands. Check out Vercelli Avenue (MM1 Pagano) and Buenos Aires Avenue (MM1 Porta Venezia, MM1 Lima, MM1/MM2 Loreto) where you can find lots of lovely and more affordable buys.

2) I don’t care whether you like Italian food or not but you must eat the local cuisine in Milan. Italians are particular with food freshness so be ready to dish up the freshest salads and homemade breads, risottos and pastas. I read that the restaurants around the Duomo are expensive and do not dish up to quality so avoid that if you can. The locals love Brek, known for its delicious bites and good value.

When it comes to accommodations, Milan has few categories for travelers to choose from – budget, mid range and luxury. It all depends on your budget and personal preferences. In my past few years of travel, I have found that one of the ways to save is to check out the good deals at last minute hotels months before you travel. Last minute Milan hotels can help to bring you savings especially you like to stay at places near the popular and glamorous areas or in the city area. At last minute hotel booking sites like Rates To Go, you can also take a quick glance of hotel’s ratings in terms of its service, cleanliness, facilities, location and pricing. With all the hotels categorized in its star ratings, you can view the rates and location before making any selection.

Well, with savings on accommodation means that you can get more bang on your buck and do more shopping and eating in Milan. I have used Rates To Go on so many occasions and it is probably one of the sites known for its attractive and cheap deals in last minute hotels.

Milan is a nice city esp for shopping :) The cathedral is simply amazing. One fo the top 4 cathedrals in Italy. The others are in Florence, Venice and Rome (Vatican).
