is your husband your business partner?

Posted on September 12, 2007 by dc

Is your husband also your business partner? If the answer is ‘yes’ then you will agree with me that communication is key in the business partnership. Both of you should always find time to talk – whatever topics may come up. The subjects of your conversation are not that important, as the process of being able to talk about anything is.

Being able to talk about anything is important in a relationship. It shows that each is concerned about what each has to say, and values the other’s opinions of whatever topics they may be. Sometimes, I would be talking about gold bracelets and shoes, and DH will be rambling about his options and internet stuff. We both have varied passions and interests.

But it is good to be open of your feelings as well. Letting the other know what one is feeling will make the other side understand you better. It should be a two-way communication so that each will benefit from the talk.

My husband is my life partner, but not my business partner. We actually operate quite differently and have different interests. We are able to talk about almost anything, but I am glad that we don’t depend totally on a single business.

Talking together is great. Talking about different things is fun, too. One trick is to know when to talk business and when to keep business talk at the office.
