whirlwind romance in vegas?

Posted on November 01, 2007 by dc

I read in an article about Las Vegas being a popular destination for wedding couples. According to the editor, most people would say that a Las Vegas wedding is only for whirlwind romances and spur of the moment decisions that often end up in divorces. However, when you think more about it, getting married in Sin City is actually a practical choice rather than a foolhardy one. Why?

Not only will you spend agonizing months planning for a wedding that will probably leave you with a huge debt to start off your married life, the spontaneity and excitement have long worn off in long engagements. Women would readily attest that planning a wedding is a nerve-racking experience peppered with arguments and frustrations that ultimately takes away the romance that brought on the decision of tying the knot in the first place. So if you don’t want to spend stressful months fretting about this and that, a spur of the moment Las Vegas wedding is definitely far more romantic. Agree?

More people focus on the wedding, than they do the actual marriage, and having a large, elaborate display does not, in any way, guarantee a long marriage, as we can already see from the divorce rates. In my opinion, Vegas weddings are much less stressful, way more memorable (honestly, if I’ve seen one wedding dress, I’ve seen them all), and more intimate. Having a show-off party with a thousand of one’s “closest” friends, is not going to guarantee anything but a huge bill afterwards. Lastly, I would rather spend the $40K towards a house, than on an event that only lasts a few hours, and only serves to impress others.

    Thanks for sharing, Tanya.
