how people find websites

Posted on November 20, 2007 by dc

The most popular way that almost all people find websites is by using search engines like Google.com or Yahoo.com. Actually, Google is responsible for almost half of the entire internet searches in the world. There are other search engines that people use, from custom collins college search engine to other user site search engines in the web.
But not all people are that well-versed with the internet. And while some cannot live without it, some would rather take a trip to the library and rely on the good-old-books that have served most useful up until the time when the internet was conceived.

Let’s face it. The internet is not something that everybody has not heard of. Not all of us may be familiar with the entire internet lingo but it doesnít mean we donít know a thing or two about this online craze.

According to a survey 26% of internet users are those who visit websites as consumers. This means that companies need to find out ways to attract online guests. Just because an organization has a website does not mean that people are then likely to flock there for a visit. It takes more than nice graphics and colorful backdrop to lure customers to the site, and a much greater challenge to ensure that they do come back.

Good information. I know I personally use google for almost all of my searches (I have it as my Homes page for my internet browser when it opens. It seems to provide the most relevant results for whatever it is that I’m looking.

And right on about a site needing to provide more than all fluff (graphics/colorful backdrop, etc) – if it doesn’t have what a person is looking for, they aren’t going to stick around for long.
