Parental anger and child development
Two days ago, I got so angry with my boy that I over reacted and behaved terribly. I wouldn’t go into details here but after what happened, I felt that I had done badly as a mom. He repeatedly did something wrong and I lost my cool. It took for two days to get over this wrongful act of mine and coincidentally, this article came to me on the next day when the incident happened. Research has repeatedly proven that yelling, scolding and hitting
- Create fear, rebellion and distrust. The child grows up being afraid of or resenting the parent rather than being loving and respectful.
- Introduce violence. The child learns that it is okay to hit, scold and yell. She may use it against younger, smaller children in school.
- Reduce self-esteem. The child will think she is being punished because she is a bad person or not deserving of kindness.
- Can cause physical harm. The child is in real danger of bodily injury, either obvious through bruising or invisible through internal damage to bones and soft tissues.”
