Work At Home on Niches Comments Off

As more women decide to work from home and joining the internet marketing arena, the competition for popular niches increases too. Just do a search for ‘home business’ and you can see pages and pages of searches. Competition is good though it would mean more work when it comes to search engine optimization.

A brief look at the SEO Quake bar reminds me that this home office women blog is already three years old…. it’s amazing how fast time flies. I don’t even remember that I have been blogging for three over years now! Looking back, I was very ‘lost’ when I first came to learn about internet marketing. It was such a breakthrough for me, as a work at home mom and as a person. I am so glad to tap onto the potentials of online technology and to be able to earn money from home. It thrills me to receive affiliate network checks and my adsense payment from time to time. My local banker still wouldn’t believe that I can earn money from home via the internet… she often looked at me with such surprising stares.

For those who have not started blogging, it’s never too late to jump on the bandwagon. If you are starting a personal blog then it will be easy to identify the topic. For internet business blogs, you can find lots of niches out there, from best acne treatment to weight loss topics. With today’s powerful search technology, you can always find a niche topic that can get you started by working at home.

iPhone: A Great Companion for the Work at Home Mom Comments Off

Posted on March 22, 2010 by dc

After being an iPhone user for three months, I can confidently say that this is a great digital gadget for the work at home mom. Well, I love the user friendliness and smart interface of the iPhone… it is simply an amazing companion for me who are not very up to date with local news.

Since I started with the iPhone, I’m more well informed of what’s going on in my home country and business news, thanks to all the application designers out there. I also downloaded some educational applications for my son who sometimes keeps himself busy with the learning programs and games. Don’t be mistaken. I’m not using this as a babysitting tool though I know of many moms and dads who do that. As my schedule gets a little busy on some days, I have to think of creative ways to keep little junior occupied. The iPhone also has many productivity tools for work at home moms and some of my favourites are Imformant, Awesome Note and JotNot. Well, the cool thing about this little device is that I can use it to substitute my scanning software when I’m out of the home office. It is just so convenient!

I am really glad that I have become more organized with the shopping list application in the iPhone as I can just key in my groceries list before heading out to the shops. For me, this is truly a wonderful gadget for every work at home mom who works hard to balance between parenting and work everyday.

A Break From the Home Office On the Weekends Comments Off

Posted on March 21, 2010 by dc

It’s the weekends so let’s take things a little lighter and I feel like writing about stuff outside the home office. Sometimes, I get so used to working at home that I can forget to rest and relax on the weekends. So I need to constantly remind myself to take things easy and that I need to devote my weekends to spending time with my family.

Time surely flies and in one month’s time, DH and myself will be celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary. Looking back, we have been working at home together since 2003 and we are loving it. And since we have the flexibility of time, we will be taking a week off from our home office to one of my favourite cities, Hong Kong. Though it may not sound like the best destination for a celebration but we want to go somewhere familiar and affordable. I am thinking of getting DH a surprise gift. Well, he’s a simple work at home dad and it isn’t easy to choose him a gift. Some friends suggest a box of fuente cigars but I told them that won’t be suitable for him. Maybe he would prefer a new pair of sports shoes since his old pair is falling apart.

With a move in place in nine months’ time, I don’t think I want any gift cos we would need our finances for the move. One thing I know, we’ll be setting up a new home office when we relocate down under and start our new online consulting business. It is so nice to have something to look forward to. It’s the weekends so I hope you too have something to look forward to too.
