This week, I’m off for a little break with little junior who is having his school holidays. As a work at home mom, my ‘holidays’ tend to synchonize with my kid’s holidays. So this requires me to plan my time and schedule so that my productivity won’t get affected.
Though I’m away from the home office, I’m still doing some research work for our new online business. Few days ago, DH had showed me a report by some internet marketer and it was about marketing via Facebook. I believe most of you who are reading this post has a facebook account. Besides using it to network and connect with your family and friends, what else do you use it for? Do you know that Facebook has become an effective tool to market your online products too?
I must admit that I haven’t started to explore the marketing potential in facebook but I know it has worked for many work at home moms. The best part is, it is free too, though you can pay for advertising spaces in this popular social networking site. Somebody was telling me how he started marketing his credit card processing information via facebook an the response has been positive.
So I’ll be exploring more about this social network and see how it can help to expand my reach in my internet marketing business. So it’s not much of a break when you are a work at home mom, isn’t it? I’m not sure if it’s just me but it’s just so normal to continue working when you are traveling with a laptop and an internet connection!

It’s always good to wake up knowing that the weekends is here again. For some people, it’s a motivation after a long week and for others, the weekends is a time of bonding with the family especially the kids. As work at home parents, we tend to get into the rut of working everyday without separating the weekends from weekdays. This is surely not a healthy thing to do so it’s good to constantly take a conscious break from your home office when the weekends is here.
I reserve my weekends to do my personal stuff. Next month onwards, I would need to slot in household chores as my part time cleaner has decided to end her tenure with us. Maintaining the house can be time consuming so there’ll be more juggling to do when the time comes. This weekend, I plan to look for some wedding invitations for a friend who have assigned this task to me. I suppose working in a home office allow me more time to access to the internet, plus I’m in the internet business! That reminds me that I need a fresh vision for my online business. I need a recharge and a new direction of where my online business should be.
Being an online business entrepreneur is an exciting thing for any work at home person but you can agree with me that lots of determination and patience is needed. There are days where I wonder when the break through will come or the big money will be at my doorstep but what I must learn to appreciate is the ongoing learning experience that money can’t buy. You may think this is just pure optimism but seriously, you do need lots of that when you are on your own. This is both a blessing and challenge of being a work at home entrepreneur.

In a couple of weeks’ time, I would be starting my day as a work at home mom earlier as my boy starts school half hour earlier. Beginning the day early may be a good thing since I tend to get more done in the early part of the day. A normal day to day routine for me includes a morning stretch, a quiet time to calm my being, household chores and a simple breaky before heading to the home office.
In the last few weeks, my DH, who is also a work at home dad has been working on our new home business website. I am glad that he’s initiating the business development while I continue to support him with relevant content and materials for the website. After much discussion, we have decided to start an internet consulting business when we move to down under and I’m really excited about this. I know it will take us a while to settle down before diving straight into the new business. Like every new home business start up, we need time, a small investment and commitment to get things going and patience is an important ingredient to success too. We hope to join some business network groups to get more acquainted with new people and contacts when the time comes. Don’t think that your home business is only limited to your online contacts.
As we plan for our new home office, I’m reminded to put in some fitness equipment for our home gym so that we can have a good balance of work, exercise and play. DH is one person who can’t start the day without his workouts and exercise keeps him motivated and mentally fit for the day’s tasks. With these plans in place, I also hope to start a network of work at home moms in my circle and encourage more to enter the home office fold.
