IN the last few weeks, we have been heading the beach on the weekends. We decided to do that as we want to take a break from our home office and maintain a balanced lifestyle. So, we try to plan an outing on a Saturday and reserve Sunday to be a day of rest.

We have been here in Aussie land for more than two months and I’m glad we are quite settled now. I have been doing alot of cooking since being here and I do enjoy the slower pace of life compared to where we used to live. We are monitoring the house prices as we had read that house prices are softening. Many of the friends I met had bought their own homes after one or two years and we are planning to do the same. I would need to find a house big enough to house our home office and hopefully the lawn is manageable and there isn’t too much maintenance work to be done. I would love some glass mosaic tiles in my bathroom when the time comes for me to design my own home. It’s a nice process and by then, I won’t be too worried about knocking a hole on the wall! Renting is always not as flexible as owning a home but I’m happy to start with this.

It’s Sunday tomorrow and we’ll be inspecting a house as Clayton goes to Chinese class. I know he doesn’t like it but I do hope that he will grow to appreciate the lesson. I can’t wait to rest on my couch and take my usual Sunday nap tomorrow!

In the last few weeks, I have met many new moms in the school and I’m glad to know that some of them work from a home office like me. It’s nice to note a commonality and it’s often a starting point to a good conversation.

We started talking about how important it is to keep healthy as busy moms as we lead active lifestyles. A healthy lifestyle cannot be a fad, or something that you will do ‘next year’. It should be on your ëto-doí list all year round, not just as a New Year Resolution that you never intend to keep. Once you start on an exercise regime, you will need to keep that up for the rest of your life; or your physical fitness will be lost, and you will have to start all over again. Without regular exercise, the muscles reduce, and fat takes its place (muscles do not become fat, they merely move over to make more room for it if they aren’t used). Then you would need top diet pills when it gets out of hand.

It is therefore important that you choose a regime that is going to keep you interested in the long term; every year throws up a new ‘fitness fad’, but most people take them up and then discard them after a fortnight. Instead, choose something that you enjoy. If the thought of being instructed on stepping up and down on a plastic board fills you with scorn, then you might try something else ñ martial arts are always popular, and a physical fitness regime which incorporates some kind of team sport will also help to keep you interested.

Many people are starting to trust online transactions and this can only continue. This opens up more opportunities for people to work from home or to have a home business.

As a matter of fact, buying products online is a much safer activity than handing over your credit card in your favorite restaurant. So you trust that guy behind the counter do you? This increase in online transactions is good news for you if you’re looking to start an online business.

Comparatively, companies spent more advertising online than they did placing adverts in print media, television and radio. This means that companies are beginning to see the power of the Internet and what it can do for their business.

If you can demonstrate that you are putting a certain amount of money in and realizing a certain return then you have a quantifiable business. Businesses which can prove they are in profit are selling for big money online at the moment.
