Recently, a few of my girlfriends have resigned from their full time jobs so that they can spend more quality time with their growing children. This is a sacrifice that is not easy to make but more mothers are choosing to be SAHMs and WAHMs for good reasons.

Work at home moms and stay at home moms enjoy spending time guiding, teaching and developing their young children including teaching them to read, write and play. Homeschooling is also the next best thing for some parents are constantly relocating or wanting to inculcate certain values on their kids. I’ve enjoying reading and learning phonics with my 4 yo eversince he started to show interest in book reading. Being a work at home mom allows me the flexibility to learn with him and do things together. My futures broker friend introduced ClickN’ Read Phonics to her kids recently and witnessed great results from her little ones. As parents, we should add fun into learning as children learn better and faster through play. Discover ClickN’ READ Phonics. Learning to read has never been this fun and easy! be a trendy mom 1

Posted on March 15, 2008 by dc

Some people think that being a mom means foregoing style and sophistication. Before I became a mom myself, I told myself that motherhood should be enjoyed and celebrated. So, I continue to live my passions, stay trendy, follow my artistic instincts and be young at heart. If you are a new mom or planning to be one soon, don’t let anyone tell you that you are going to look dull, old and out dated. It all begins with the mind so think positive and maintain your cheer. Whether it’s using a baby sling carrier or carrying a diaper bag, there are lots of cool and fashionable ones around so that you don’t have to feel shy about using them in the public. I know of some friends who would hide their diaper bags cos they think they are too girlie and babyish. But if you take a look at these trendy bags and carriers at trendytote dot com, you would probably want to buy another one for work!

My good friend who is a mom of two sent me this video link. I’m one of those who spend time watching online video clips but since she told me that I would have a good laugh on this, I watched it. The lyrics of the song echoes much of the sentiments of we mothers and since the weekend is approaching, here’s something to gear you up for a relaxing one… enjoy!

keep your baby secure, comfortable and happy 0

Mommies or moms to be, I need you to stop whatever you are doing and read this wonderful finding in the web to keep your baby secure, comfortable and happy. How I wish I found this earlier! Like the founder and creator of Secure2Me.com, I was frustrated with blankets that fell off from the stroller and landed on roads and dirty grounds. This was especially when we took Clayton for our first New Zealand trip two years ago where the winds was still cold in middle spring.

other stay-at-home moms’ hobby skills 0

Posted on September 10, 2007 by dc

Another home and hobby skill that comes in handy is sewing on a sewing machine. Many homemakers are producing quilts that are works of art. These beautiful offerings can be made inexpensively by recycling unwanted fabrics into squares and other shapes and artistically arranging the pieces. Read the rest of this entry →

hobby and stay at home moms 0

Posted on September 10, 2007 by dc

In the past decades, many mothers have made the decision to pursue careers, but that trend seems to be changing.  Home and hobby are calling to these women, who are willing to make financial and personal sacrifices in order to be the primary caregivers for their small children.  Many women have turned to stay at home moms or work at home moms, and hobby skills can help them meet the financial challenges of being a one income family.

One hobby that helps the stay at home mom is cooking.  Though it could be considered work, cooking and baking are fascinating hobbies.  One can explore the cuisine of different countries or learn to create gourmet treats.  Baking can yield wholesome whole grain products that nourish the family and it cost less too. I do wish I have more time for these two things. In fact, I’m hoping to attending a baking class by a famous local pastry chef. Hopefully I can do that in two months’ time when our projects are all completed.

wordless wednesday - work at home mom challenges 1

Posted on August 29, 2007 by dc

I haven’t done this for a while.. it’s Wordless Wednesday! This was a shot taken in my home office, a place where Clayton called it his second playroom too :( We are still finding is hard to observe the rules and keep out of our home office. It is annoying and frustrating when the phone rings and work is in progress… being a home office business is not an easy task on some days. But the popular advice is “They Grow Fast” so I usually take it in stride and keep establishing the boundaries. Is that your challenge as a work at home mom too?
