Posted on January 17, 2010 by dc

One of the first things work from home moms should do is to have a website for their products and services. By saying it, I’m assuming that your home business can be either an online or off line one. Not all moms working at home are involved in internet business. The next few posts will be a series of posts featuring some tips to take note when creating a search engine friendly website for your home office business.

When creating a website, it is important to create one that is search engine friendly? You can find plenty of information when browsing the internet so there is no excuse in not knowing how. A search engine friendly site is helpful for top ranking in the search engines, but also it also helps to attract customers, which in turn generate more business for you.

Before designing a site, you need to decide on a good domain name. The Domain name is your URL or Universal Resource Locator as in what a person types into the search engine bar like yoursite.com and others. Hypothetically, if your business is related to something like business and promotional bags then it is good to have the word “promotional bags” included into the domain name and you can also separate by dashes from other words or numbers if the desired domain name is not available. Generic domain names may help in search engine listing. It will be easier to find the sequence of words within a domain name directly related to the main idea of your business.

So the above is a quick tip for creating a search engine friendly website for all work from home moms. We shall look at other tips in the following post.

Work At Home Mom Tips: Article Directory Submission Comments Off

Posted on October 29, 2009 by dc

One of the things you want to look into if you are a work at home mom building your internet business is ‘article marketing’. Submitting articles to various article directories is a great way of providing links back to your site, thus building popularity to your site.

Many online marketers use article directories to build back links to their websites. When a page has many links back to it it helps to find favor with search engines – a SEO expert will tell you that. An article directory which has a high page rank is the best place to submit articles to as this helps to boost your page’s rank such as Ezinearticles. How it works is that, when people like your articles, they will publish them on their websites and that will grant you (the author) more back links and publicity.

Writing articles is something every work at home mom can do. Having said this, don’t writing a bunch of articles for your home office projects in one day and submit them to a few directories in one day. Doing that can alert Google on your sudden surge of traffic and that may cause your websites to be de-index for a while. Go easy with your submissions.

Last but not least, be careful about using PLR articles for your projects. Make sure you edit them and not copy them exactly as duplicated content is never a good thing in SEO. According to some SEO experts, Google would consider the site which is higher ranking to be the originator of the article and your site’s page rank may suffer. Besides, duplicate articles could be rejected by the article directories and your account can be banned.

Since the whole idea is to build links for your websites, use anchor text that relates to the keywords you are targeting. This will help you attain a better position in the SERP’s (search engine result pages). For instance, if your home office business is on business insurance, then you want to make sure that the keyword is present in your article. But don’t overdo this.

These are some basic tips on article directory submssion for every work at home mom who want their websites to rank well in the worldwide web. If you put in sufficient efforts in article marketing by learning how to write decent quality articles, it will bring in terrific long term results if you don’t give up.

Niche Blogs For Women Working From Home Comments Off

Posted on July 09, 2009 by dc

Over the last few months, I have been telling many women working from home the importance and benefits of building niche blogs. If you are planning to write a blog out of fun or personal inspiration, then by all means, go ahead and start a generic one. But if you are serious in building your blogs to earn some decent money from home, then you can’t avoid going niche.

A “niche” refers to a targeted topic with possible profit potential that may or may not be saturated with competitors. Some niches are not so profitable and some are filled with keen competition. The whole idea is to find the niche markets in the worldwide web and start building your online business. For that to succeed, you should continue to publish posts or pages regularly to your niche blog. People tend to start niche blogs and then their blogs are left unmodified or updated after some time. Once you pick a good niche, it’s a matter of publishing and writing blog posts and pages regularly. Updating your blog once or twice will send the search engine spiders to your niche blogs if you target on the right keywords.

Search engines love blogs (wordpress is great!) and they will rank higher in search engines as compared to websites. After your niche blogs are properly set up, you may want to improve and work on your rankings using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques. This involves placing links of your niche blogs onto other relevant sites, directories and article submissions. Other popular social bookmarking applications that can bring popularity to your niche blogs include hub pages, squidoo and delicious to name a few. As for me, I don’t spend alot of time with social bookmarking as my primary objective for my niche blogs is to improve my SERPs. I have personally found Linkvana and Unique Article Wizard to be very useful in this respect to build my online business. Do keep in mind that these two applications are only recommended for those who are serious in earning money from home as it involves a small amount of investment.

So go on and start building your niche blogs. There are thousands of niches to consider, from something as specific as Danze faucets to football jerseys. The more specific your niche is, the more targeted your market would be. Starting a niche blog doesn’t take you alot of time, it’s maintaining and the regular updating that do. But for women working from home, building niche blogs is the way to go for your affiliate and online business.
