For a long time, a blog has been regarded as an online journal and could be set up to no cost at all, can be used for just for the fun of it or for business reasons. Sometimes, some of my work at home women friends ask me if it’s tiring managing dozens of niche sites and blogs. The answer is a resounding ‘yes’!
I’m no super woman so yes, it is tiring and lots of hard work. Every week, I start off looking through my project files and listing down the things that needed done for my niche sites. Since most women working from home are multi taskers, you can understand what it is to sit in the home office for a couple of hours and running to the kitchen to wash some vegetables or spend a few minutes to air your laundry. It is common. It’s a busy day for me every day but it’s fun. Working at home is meaningful and fulfilling but it takes discipline.
Everyday at 4pm, I put aside my home office work and spend some moments with my son. We do activities, learn maths, play computer games, read books, do some coloring and even eat snacks together. In the past, the television is a convenient babysitter. Eversince limited his TV hours at 12 a week, we’ve been doing more fun things together. Since none of us play piano at home, we’ll head to the yard some ball games or badminton on some evenings. The splash pool is a weekend favourite too. It takes sacrifice… lots of it. And I believe many women working from home can share the same stories and feelings about balancing work and parenting.
As I took some time to look through some of my boy’s baby photos, I realized that I was missing his baby years. He has grown so fast and so much over the last couple of years. What I’m saying is that, time spent with our children is valuable and precious. Do whatever it takes to spend a few more minutes with them. The sacrifice you make today will be well worth it in years to come. This doesn’t apply to those of us who can work at home but to every parent who has a child in their care. It’s summer time – do something with your children
