Earning Money From Home via the Internet Lies Comments Off

Posted on July 16, 2009 by dc

So you told a friend that you want to be a stay at home who starts earning money from home and she thinks you are crazy. She started rambling about the challenges, hardships and impossibilities. While some of her concerns were valid, they could also become limiting beliefs. The thing is, there are a few myths and lies that surround many people’s minds whenever the subject on earning money from home via the internet is concerned. Here are a few to take note:

1. Starting And Running An Online Business From Home Is Costly

While this can be true, it is not necessary so. Do you know that you can start your business with zero cost? You can actually earn money from home by being an affiliate to merchants and online stores. As an affiliate marketer, you focus on marketing the products online either via your niche blog/site or affiliate store. You don’t need to worry about the follow up, shipping, answering questions from customers as they are taken care of by the merchants.

People who are living in non-U.S. countries tend to think it’s expensive due to the weaker local currency. Otherwise, it’s a matter of perception. Do you know that it is more costly to set up a retail store, buy a franchise, open a restaurant or launch any offline business? I can speak that from my personal experience. For instance, it only takes me less than $10 for a domain and hosting, less than $30 to start an affiliate store and absolutely no cost to start promoting your online business on the internet.

Did I mention that working from home means you can save from commercial office rental costs?

2. Making Money From The Internet is Easy

Most people believe you can make money overnight and by not doing anything at all. Don’t fool yourself. If it is what you have in mind right now, stop now. You have probably heard of stories of how people make 5 to 6 figure incomes in the shortest time but do you know most of them have failed so miserably several times before they can really make money? They have learned from their mistakes and move forward. Some internet gurus have claimed overnight successes during a day or a week selling information or products online but what they didn’t tell you is that it normally takes months if not years to realize this goal. When they reach that level of success, then they will talking about earning money during their Vegas vacations and enjoying financial flexibility.

3. You Must Know Programming And Graphic Design In Order To Start Your Online Home Business

Don’t be too surprised but most of the internet gurus out there have no clue on how to create a web page or do any programming. They outsource. You can be earning money from home when you know how to reach your target audience. You can outsource for professional help and get your website done and your online business rolling. Focus on what you are good at bringing your online home business to success. Don’t bother about spending a month learning programming or designing your own website.

There are many professional web designers you can find online where you can hire them to design your web pages to the style you want.

So those are just a few things to take note when you make up your mind to start earning money from home. Do your research, have a positive mindset and be ready to make mistakes.

Parenting For the Women Working At Home Comments Off

Sometimes, some of my work at home women friends ask me if it’s tiring managing dozens of niche sites and blogs. The answer is a resounding ‘yes’!

I’m no super woman so yes, it is tiring and lots of hard work. Every week, I start off looking through my project files and listing down the things that needed done for my niche sites. Since most women working from home are multi taskers, you can understand what it is to sit in the home office for a couple of hours and running to the kitchen to wash some vegetables or spend a few minutes to air your laundry. It is common. It’s a busy day for me every day but it’s fun. Working at home is meaningful and fulfilling but it takes discipline.

Everyday at 4pm, I put aside my home office work and spend some moments with my son. We do activities, learn maths, play computer games, read books, do some coloring and even eat snacks together. In the past, the television is a convenient babysitter. Eversince limited his TV hours at 12 a week, we’ve been doing more fun things together. Since none of us play piano at home, we’ll head to the yard some ball games or badminton on some evenings. The splash pool is a weekend favourite too. It takes sacrifice… lots of it. And I believe many women working from home can share the same stories and feelings about balancing work and parenting.

As I took some time to look through some of my boy’s baby photos, I realized that I was missing his baby years. He has grown so fast and so much over the last couple of years. What I’m saying is that, time spent with our children is valuable and precious. Do whatever it takes to spend a few more minutes with them. The sacrifice you make today will be well worth it in years to come. This doesn’t apply to those of us who can work at home but to every parent who has a child in their care. It’s summer time – do something with your children :)

Niche Blogs For Women Working From Home Comments Off

Over the last few months, I have been telling many women working from home the importance and benefits of building niche blogs. If you are planning to write a blog out of fun or personal inspiration, then by all means, go ahead and start a generic one. But if you are serious in building your blogs to earn some decent money from home, then you can’t avoid going niche.

A “niche” refers to a targeted topic with possible profit potential that may or may not be saturated with competitors. Some niches are not so profitable and some are filled with keen competition. The whole idea is to find the niche markets in the worldwide web and start building your online business. For that to succeed, you should continue to publish posts or pages regularly to your niche blog. People tend to start niche blogs and then their blogs are left unmodified or updated after some time. Once you pick a good niche, it’s a matter of publishing and writing blog posts and pages regularly. Updating your blog once or twice will send the search engine spiders to your niche blogs if you target on the right keywords.

Search engines love blogs (wordpress is great!) and they will rank higher in search engines as compared to websites. After your niche blogs are properly set up, you may want to improve and work on your rankings using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques. This involves placing links of your niche blogs onto other relevant sites, directories and article submissions. Other popular social bookmarking applications that can bring popularity to your niche blogs include hub pages, squidoo and delicious to name a few. As for me, I don’t spend alot of time with social bookmarking as my primary objective for my niche blogs is to improve my SERPs. I have personally found Linkvana and Unique Article Wizard to be very useful in this respect to build my online business. Do keep in mind that these two applications are only recommended for those who are serious in earning money from home as it involves a small amount of investment.

So go on and start building your niche blogs. There are thousands of niches to consider, from something as specific as Danze faucets to football jerseys. The more specific your niche is, the more targeted your market would be. Starting a niche blog doesn’t take you alot of time, it’s maintaining and the regular updating that do. But for women working from home, building niche blogs is the way to go for your affiliate and online business.
