How many of you work at home moms like to work on a Friday? I don’t! I like to bake a cake or try out a new recipe on a Friday. Sometimes I am compelled to do a big clean up to my little haven!
Whatever it is, I like to follow my heart and passion on a Friday and today, I just baked a cheesecake and after this post, I’ll be off to bake some cookies. Then, my new plants need repotting in the garden. This is what I like to do on a Friday and I wonder what do other work at home moms do when the weekends draw nigh. My hubby said that he would fix up the metal hose and help me in the garden later. I need more bricks and a fence for the cucumber plant. With spring knocking on our doors, it’s time to get some work done in the garden and there is so much I like to do this season.
So you can see that I’m in no mood to work from my home office as I would prefer to be in the kitchen baking some cookies for the gathering tonight. Enjoy your weekend and all work at home moms deserve that break!

When you work at home and are in the online industry, having a good internet connection is crucial. It’s hard to be productivity when the internet isn’t working or your computer isn’t cooperating. I’m sure you know what I mean.
Few weeks ago, our internet line was giving us problems and we could hardly get our online work done. It’s frustrating when you are working from home and the connection is out. The upsetting part was that, it would come on after seven and that would be family time and I had to spend those hours cooking, preparing my child to bed…etc. It was silly that they were working at their convenience and the consumers like us had to suffer. I aired my concerns and demanded for a credit during the few days of outage. They were reluctant but they did it in the end.
I’m quite simple person when it comes to home entertainment but my work at home dad isn’t quite the same. Because we spend our time at home for work and relaxation, he makes sure that he gets a good enough home theatre system wireless device for himself. Sometimes he would leave it on the whole time and I had to remind him that we have a home office!
It can be hard drawing a line between work and play when you are working from home. But if you stay focused, this is definitely possible with a little practice.

My schedule has been full and busy since my son started grade one down under. I feel like I’m ‘going to school’ with him as I play a more pro active role as a work at home mom. It’s definitely helpful that I’m working from home since I tend to spend some time in the school every morning. I volunteer to help the class once a week and other times, I’m involving myself with other activities with other moms.
Some of his classmates have moms that work full time and I can see how much they yearn for their moms to come to class more often. This is definitely not possible for some families so I often remind my son to count his blessings that we can fetch him to and from school everyday. For without that, he would need to go on a school buy like some of his friends. Some of the moms I spoke to were hoping to find part time jobs that allow them to work short hours so that they can be in school to fetch their kids home. How they love to help with their daughters’ prom dresses when the school is organizing a party! Here in down under, many employers are very sympathetic towards working moms and that allows my moms to be out there working.
If given a choice, many moms would love a job that let them work from home. Freedom of time is much coveted by modern moms today who want to balance between work and family life. Hopefully there will be opportunities for working moms to maximize their potential yet retain this flexibility!
