Keeping Your Home Office Clean Comments Off

Posted on February 18, 2010 by dc

I don’t know about you but if you are working from home, you had better keep your house and home office clean and tidy to ensure a conducive working environment. Not only is this good for you and your family, a clean office can also mean better productivity.

To protect your family from illness, you should put in the efforts to disinfect all areas to destroy germs and prevent them from spreading. Your home office tables and equipment, kitchen sink and counters should be cleaned with antibacterial solutions after each use. Bacteria left from meats and vegetables can get on your hands, utensils or other foods. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some viruses and bacteria can live two hours or longer on surfaces like telephones, doorknobs and tables. Cleaning and disinfecting these “hot spots” regularly is key to keeping a healthy home.

Poor indoor air quality also is to blame for a variety of health effects. Americans spend more than 90 percent of their time indoors, where air pollution levels can be two to five times higher than outdoor levels.

While finding out about exposed skin care in the net, I gather that you can breathe easier by following these strategies for reducing air pollution in your living areas and home office:

* Control the source. Reduce or remove as many asthma or allergy triggers from your home as possible. Keep pets outside whenever possible; wash all bedding weekly in hot water; and don’t allow anyone to smoke indoors.

* Invest in an air purifier.

* Check and replace. Maintain your heating and air conditioning systems by changing the filters frequently. This includes gas appliances, wood stoves and fireplaces. Good maintenance and ventilation are important for keeping indoor air pollution under control.

What I like About My Home Office Comments Off

Posted on February 14, 2010 by dc

Two more days and I’m off from my home office as our family make a trip back to our parents’ home for the festive. This is going to be another week long break and I’m looking forward to it.

Now, one cool thing about having an online business is that I can work anywhere in the world. All I need is my laptop and an internet connection and I can still keep track of my websites performance, check my affiliate accounts, post in my blogs and check my emails. It’s like having a mobile home office. My family is still puzzled on how I can make money from the internet and they find it too good to be true! I told them about some successful stories of internet marketers who earn five figure incomes without a shirt and tie and they were amazed too.

On one occasion, I showed my mom how I could check age spot removal information via the internet since she was concerned about her pigmentation. Being a computer illiterate, she was impressed! It’s only a matter of time where I will teach many stay at home moms the power of internet business and its strong leverage.

So I’m off for a good break and the home office will be closed for the holidays. It’s another time of eating and relaxing, and pampering…

Balancing Career and Home Office Business Comments Off

While many work at home moms find it challenging with just the concept of balancing a career and family life, others are trying to find a way to have a successful career while getting a home business off the ground for the future.

There are a few factors that are stimulating in life as running a successful home office business, but the risks are great and it can take time for the average home business to bring in sufficient money to support a family or even an individual on a full time basis. For this reason, juggling both a day job and a home business is sometimes necessary for a while.

A couple of important traits you would need to have to balance a career and a home business is passion and determination. Juggling both can be stressful and there will be times when you find yourself envious of your friends who have the take a vacation to the Outer Banks, enjoy fun hobbies, and basically get a life after work. During these same hours, you will need to work harder to get your business off the ground. Sometimes you may also feel like throwing in the towel. Working at home is no easy peasy.

When it feels like all you want to do is relax and watch some television, discipline needs to step in. People complain every day about not having enough time, but often times, they don’t examine how much of their day is wasted. That includes weekends, holidays, after work hours. These are the times when you have to sacrifice your rest and relaxation for the good of your home business. If that’s you, researching, advertising, and creating will be your priorities.

Finally, another essential trait to possess to be a work at home mom or dad is patience. Days can stretch into weeks, into months, and even years before your home office business is successful enough to support you full time. But if you give up, it will never happen. Have patience, persevere, and eventually it will happen.
