This has been a very busy month for me as our first visitors came and since we work from home, we are obligated to do everything with them and take them to places. I suppose that flexibility also means we need to plan our time wisely so that we don’t lose sight of our work too.

Many of my friends whom I just met found it hard to understand our home business and it’s really hard to explain what we do to people who aren’t familiar with the online world. Most people only use the internet for emails and information but not many knows how people make money online by working at home. There are many kinds of online businesses and you can be selling apparel to li ion batteries or simply having a review site that earns money from advertising.

Let’s face it… like any other traditional business, there is no guarantee of success in online business. A key factor causing online business failure is being impatient for success. This usually means that the business owner does not know how success is achieved within the business they are in. Due to impatience, research is not conducted and time and money is spent on fruitless activities.

In each business, there is a process involved in making money. In simplest terms, you need a continuing supply of prospects, a product or service they are prepared to buy at a price they are willing to pay, a way of providing this product or service in a timely and satisfying manner to the client, and to be able to run your business process at a profit.

Make sure you know your business and how money is made. Then concentrate on the activities that will give you the greatest success.

This week, I have a few guests visiting us and it’s been a very busy week for me. It’s a good thing that I work from home cos I have been juggling with cooking dinners for six people every night and the only time I sat down and get a rest is when everyone is in their bedroom! The kids are busy watching tele in the day and I am surprised that my friend’s twelve year old is spending some facebooking while she’s on vacation!

Gone is the time of 70′s and 80′s when saturday nights were nights with friends, hanging out. Nowadays you also hear about online meetings with friends using instant messengers. SMS has reduced the need of speaking on the phone. People are no longer as outgoing and socialable as they were before. Even movies and concerts can be downloaded home on demand preventing the need to go out. In fact, you can even work from home and not even go to office. Everything you need to shop, can be ordered online or on the telephone. You can even read online reviews in the web, from how to make a perfect roast to understanding progesterone side effect.

Talking of education, even graduate degrees can be obtained sitting at home. There is no need to attend lectures and classes in universities. There’s no need to stay in a college dormitory with new friends. Our old favourite TV started the couch potato idea. Studies showed people all over US were becoming obese and lethargic. Children instead of playing football outdoors were watching inane programs for long hours. All this only promotes loneliness.

Even internet surfing, to some has become an addiction. Hours and hours are spent online with no care of the real world. Similarly with online games. People suddenly become recluse. They ignore their home and family. Hanging out is no longer for them. This phenomenon is real in many places. Loneliness creates frustration with the outside world. A gregarious attitude is lost. Everything is a product of new and latest innovations of technology companies. And they are only researching and testing for more of these gadgets.

Earlier on, I wrote about buying sites from Flippa and how it has become so popular with those who want to work from home. So instead of starting a site from scratch, you buy an existing profitable site… that’s how easy it is.

Well, few weeks ago, hubby bought a few sites from Flippa and these sites have good stats and google adsense returns. They were working well and everything was looking good. I mean, you can find all kinds of websites for sale everyday from many sites and it takes time to find one you like before you decide to bid for it. Whether you are keen on credit or payday loans, many internet marketers know that these sites fetch high adsense clicks and thus, people develop sites like these to make money.

But like they always say, people learn from mistakes. For us, we choose to work at home as online and internet marketers so we are ready to learn and explore. So the setback came when we found out that the sites we bought were badly manipulated with invalid clicks and we all know that this is a big no-no if you are an adsense publisher. Your adsense account can be disabled when you violate these policies. When we found out, we quickly remove all codes from the sites since they aren’t as legit as we thought.

Since, we had learned that sites that promise such good returns tend to be suspicious and most legit sites are normally sold at a higher price if they are fetching good monetary returns. While this setback doesn’t dampen our continuation to work from home, we will be more careful next time when we buy any sites.
